FACING THE GIANT(s) IN OUR LIVES

(I John 4:4) “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, that he that is in the world.”
(I Sam. 17:4) “And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”

Giant: Something unusual large or powerful

Most of us when we hear the word “GIANT” we think of something or someone that is above normal standards or measurements. We may feel because of its enormity we are unable to conquer whatever is confronting us. Fear and intimidation began to enter and causes us to pull back, give up or refuse to face our giant(s).

In those times when we are challenged by our giant(s), these are the times we should rely on the greater one who is in us and with us. God is greater than any giant or any humongous item we have to deal with in our lives. Fear will cause us to tuck our tails in and run under attack. This is not what God wants us to do. He has given us the power and authority to resist, confront and defeat our giants. Why should we run when God is on our side? If He isn’t on our side, it is a good thing to run and hide.

The video posted tells about a little shepherd boy named David and a Philistine giant named Goliath (I Samuel chapter 17). This giant was over nine feet tall and well-trained for war in the Philistine army. People sometimes think that huge sizes mean someone is powerful and very strong! This never was a thought with David. All that mattered to him was that this giant was defying the name of His God and he needed to face and defeat him. As you may already know or will take the time to read, David didn’t need Saul’s armor or weaponry but used his sling, a stone and faith in God. On the day Goliath came out and made his threat to the Israelite army, David advanced and ran towards him and defeated the giant he was faced with. Giants are no match against the power of God in our lives when we believe Him for the impossible.

(Please join us tomorrow for continued thoughts on this same topic as we deal with naming some giants we may be faced with or dealing with).
Have a Blessed Day!
